On our short three day visit to Canada, we stayed first in Waterton township in Waterton National Park. We enjoyed dinner at the Royal Stewart dining room in the historic Prince of Wales hotel which provides an awesome view down the lake.
From Waterton we rode north for breakfast in Pincher Creek, then west on Hwy 3 before turning north on Hwy 2A along the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. We stopped for a break in Longview, the birthplace of the Canadian oil industry. We turned west to join Hwy 40, a great road through the mountains to Kananaskis. We stayed the night in Canmore enjoying an evening with Andy’s Canadian family and friends.
We rode north in Banff National Park and were lucky at Lake Louise to be able to park in the designated motorcycle lot close to the lake. It was a short walk down to Lake Louise where we were able to take the obligatory tourist photos. We continued north along the Icefields Parkway in Jasper National Park. We stopped for a break at the Columbia Icefields but decided not to take the tour bus up to the actual glacier. Turning south we returned to the TransCanada and rode west through Yoho National Park and over Kickking Horse Pass to stop for lunch in Golden, British Columbia. Continuing south through the mountains to Radium Hot Springs we stopped in Cranbrook to stay the night.
Turning east on Hwy 3 we rode over Crowsnest Pass, past Frank Slide and back down into Alberta. We crossed back into Montana at the Chief Mountain border crossing.
